"The discipline demanded from the commercial industry has been quite advantageous. Despite the rigorous deadlines and tedious technicality, those years were highly beneficial, preparing me for the transition into bronze sculpture commissions, a much more distinguished level. For that indoctrination, I am forever grateful".
The graceful blending of Cathi's natural ability has complimented her years of specialized precision, rendering a unique, distinctive style now apparent in her limited edition bronze sculptures, ranging in scale from micro miniature to life-size. Cathi also creates her own line of pewter figurines and collectibles with the Rawcliffe Corporation in Providence, Rhode Island, which is marketed nationwide. Her limited edition bronze collections are featured in fine art galleries and homes around the world, including Canada and Finland. click on Acknowledgements and Exhibitions.
"I consider individual commissions a welcome inspiration, and enjoy working closely with the collector with concept and design".
Cathi is known as much for her skilful creativity as she is for the variety of work she creates. Her training for this incredible diversity began as a sign painter, noted for her unique wildlife and equine embellished renderings. This path led Cathi to painting on canvas, commissioned by clients for original oil paintings of horses, pets and various farm animals.
Upon entering an oil painting at a county fair, her talent was discovered by master sculptor John Imhoff. Cathi was hired to help launch a new company and gift line design, "Homestead Life". It was here where she was introduced to the world of professional sculpture, and realized that she had found her passion in this three dimensional form of expression. Once aiming some serious intention on that first piece of clay, she has never looked back.
Growing up in rural Western Pennsylvania set the ground work for Cathi's love and curiosity of both animals and ranch life.
With the purchase of her first horse at age 17, she became mesmerized with the equine spirit. After graduating from horseshoeing school in Oklahoma, Cathi began raising horses and starting colts. Still intrigued by their instincts and ability, she considers this to be a source of her inspiration, along with her captivating interest of Native American and Western cultures. The essence of her sculptures, reflect this respect and admiration.
Following her heart, Cathi moved West in 1992. Her home and studio are now nestled in the foothills of Colorado.
